Helping Campers
"Send a Kid to Tamarack" event kicked off a
yearlong fundraising campaign.
T
amarack Camps hosted
its Fourth Annual "Send
a Kid to Tamarack" Kick
Off event Sunday, May 6, at the
Berman Center in West Bloomfield.
The event featured Jeffrey Seller,
a Tamarack alumnus and Tony
Award-winning producer of Rent,
Avenue Q and In the Heights, and
Laura Berman, a Tamarack alumna
and columnist for the Detroit News.
The program showcased Seller's
career in the theater industry as
well as the important role that
Tamarack played in his life.
"I feel extremely honored to sup-
port the Send a Kid to Tamarack
event because I would have been
that kid [who needed financial aid
to attend camp]," said Seller."It

was through financial aid that my
brother was able to go to camp. It
is my job to help kids experience
what my family and I were able to
experience."
Last summer, Tamarack allo-
cated $1.25 million for financial
aid, more than any Jewish sum-
mer camp in the world, to fulfill
the needs of nearly 50 percent
of Tamarack's camper popula-
tion. This event was the start of
Tamarack's yearlong campaign to
provide enriching Jewish camping
experiences for children and fami-
lies, independent of financial abili-
ty. You can contribute to the "Send a
Kid to Tamarack" campaign online
