Kickin' It!

The latest dish from ComePlayDetroit sports.

C

omePlayDetroit kicks
off our summer leagues
with record-setting
participation. More than
1,000 unique players are involved in
basketball, softball, volleyball, tennis,
softball, flag football,
and, our most popular
sport, kickball!
With 28 teams
and more than 400
players, we had a great
start to the season.
In partnership with
CommunityNEXT, a
department of the
Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, we
hosted a Kickball Kick-
Off party at Como's in
Ferndale on Wednesday,
May 16, and had a great
time with good food, drinks and live
music.
Some of the fun team names
include: Matzah Balls, Kickin It Old
Shul and Kick Shmear & Tuchas
among others. Join us every Monday
and Wednesday night at Como's. Tell
them you are with ComePlayDetroit
and get two pitchers of beer and
an extra-large pizza for only $28.

Not to mention you get to hang out
with all the great ComePlayDetroit
kickballers!
CPD continues to build its
Downtown Detroit presence by
hosting leagues on Belle Isle. There
is a great sense of energy
there with the beautiful
views of the Detroit and
Windsor skylines as well
as the boats that cruise by
on the Detroit River.
This year, we are
excited to have doubled
our participation with
eight co-ed softball teams,
including teams from
Quicken Loans, Bedrock
Management, University
of Detroit Grad Students,
Deloitte and more. The
success of the Downtown
leagues are most important to us as
we try to help make Detroit a vibrant
place for young adults to live, work
and play.
We are still accepting registration
for some of our June leagues,
including co-ed tennis, co-ed flag
football and co-ed sand volleyball.
