Mr. Lipshaw left Michigan for the San Francisco Bay Area with few pos- sessions to his name to make a new life for himself at the age of 40. It was a difficult time; but he was a hard worker with a sure sense of purpose, a generous disposition and a refreshing and vibrant way of seeing humor in many different things, even life's bit- ter lessons. These character traits he must have absorbed from his father: He loved him dearly and talked about him often, and the two seemed so alike.
