Steve Stein Contributing Writer T he 13th Texas hold 'em poker tour- nament fundraiser hosted by the Bloch-Israel and Pisgah-Zeiger B'nai B'rith chapters will be a lucky night for a lot of people. Someone will win the tournament cham- pionship, of course, on June 3 and take home the minimum $500 first prize and free entry into the next tournament. .. There also will be a raffle for two tickets to a Detroit Tigers game, two spots in the 30th annual B'nai B'rith Golf Classic on July 9 at Wabeek Country. Club in West Bloomfield, and Golf Classic raffle tickets for a seven- night cruise for two phis $500 in spending money. Each golf spot is worth $195. Raffle tickets for the cruise and spending money are $25. Here's another twist to the tournament, which will be held for the second straight time in the Teen Center at the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. Block-Israel and Pisgah-Zeiger are reviv- ing their popular sports night by bringing in guest speaker Lynn Henning, a sports colum- nist for the Detroit News. He'll talk about the Tigers. "This will be a great night, a fun night, even if you're not a poker player; said tour- nament spokesman Rick Sherline. Cost for dinner, the Tiger talk and tourna- ment is $55 for B'nai B'rith members and $65 for non-members if paid by May 31. After May 31, ifs $65 and $75 at the door, cash only. For dinnef and the Tiger talk, it's $20 if paid by May 31 and $25 at the door, cash only. Proceeds benefit B'nai B'rith sports programs.
