Annemarie Roeper

27 August 1918 - II MaN

2012

Annemarie Roeper arrived in the United States in 1939,
a young German intellectual scholar in flight from the Nazi regime that persecuted her
because she was Jewish.

Once in this country, she and her husband, George Roeper,
influenced by their experiences growing up in the innovative and progressive boarding school
shaped by Annemarie's parents, Max and Gertrfid Bondy,
founded Roeper City and Country School in 1941 (later renamed The Roeper School in 1993).

Today, Annemarie's celebrated legacy
includes thousands of students, alumni, parents and colleagues throughout the globe
who honor her astounding lesson to live happily and productively.

Annemarie and George Roeper believed that people have two fundamental tasks in life:
to come to understand themselves and to discover how they will contribute to the world.
