metro Meade L o Edward Levy Jr. To Headline JVS Dinner T he JVS Strictly Business Networking and Awards Luncheon, to be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn, will be headlined by Edward Levy Jr., president/CEO of the Edw. C. Levy Co., a leading provider of environ- mental solutions to local, national and international industry. He brings a broad perspective to Strictly Business as an experienced business- man and community activist. "Ed Levy personifies the success- ful, principled business leader who makes significant contributions to the community by employing a size- able workforce and working tirelessly for the greater good," says JVS CEO Barbara Nurenberg. Others to be honored include Rush Trucking Corp., a Michigan-based company serving North America, which will be presented with the Business Leadership Award. "Founder and CEO Andra Rush started Rush Trucking with a van and two trucks over 25 years ago," says event co-chair Mindi Fynke."Today, Rush is the largest Native American-owned minority business in the U.S., and one that remains dedicated to creating a diverse workplace for its employees." New this year is the Rising Entrepreneur Award, which will be presented to Jason Raznick, founder of Benzinga, an online financial media outlet that provides up-to-the- minute news for investors. The award was created to honor an individual who has demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial perfor- mance and personal commitment to business and the community. "We thought it would be especially meaningful to present this award to a future business leader in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Strictly Business," says Michael Tobin, event co-chair. Three individuals who JVS helped find employment will be honored with Employee of the Year Awards. The award celebrates the success of hardworking individuals who have overcome obstacles to employment. "The video vignettes we present at the event of our clients' success brings a real sense of the difference JVS is making in peoples' lives," says Nurenberg. "Their stories never fail to bring a tear to the eye." Tickets are $125.
