MARTY BAND, 86
of Austin, Texas,
peacefully passed
away May 2, 2012,
with his two daugh-
ters by his side.
He will leave a
deep
void in the days,
Band
months and years
to come for those who were close to
him. His presence of character, sense of
humor and wisdom will profoundly be
missed. His brave attitude is a lesson
for all.
Mr. Band was born on March 28,
1926, in Detroit; he moved to Austin,
Texas, in April 2008 to live near his
beloved daughter, Brenda Band. He
was a successful residential build-
ing contractor. From his youth, he
collected stamps and cherished his
collection. He used to love playing
handball and possessed a high affinity
for politics, international and current
events. He thoroughly enjoyed a deep,
involved discussion on the events of
the day.
He is survived by beloved daugh-
ters, Brenda Band and Leslie (Band)
Hirshberg; son-in-law, Dale; grand-
children, Seth and Jason Hirshberg.
Many people of Austin became his
new, loving family, including his care-
givers and their families, close friends
of Brenda Band and their children as
well as the residents of the Heritage,
the Summit of Northwest Hills and
Parmer Woods, where he resided
during his time in Texas. The family
would like to thank Dr. Sonstein and
his staff for all of their care and sup-
port while Mr. Band lived in Austin.
He was the husband of the late
beloved Shirley Band.
Rabbi Steve Folberg led the grave-
side service at Austin Memorial Park
Cemetery in Austin.
The memorial guestbook is avail-
able online at www.wcfish.com .
Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish
Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd.,
