Sensational Seder!

Shir Shalom's interactive congregational seder

keeps growing every year.

0

n Saturday, April 7, more than
275 people attended the con-
gregational seder at Temple
Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield. The
annual dinner has grown in size over
the years and has become a go-to
event at the West Bloomfield syna-
gogue.
Rabbis Michael Moskowitz and
Daniel Schwartz, along with Cantor
Penny Steyer, have created a fun, inter-
active seder, complete with Schwartz
dressing up as Moses. Everyone partici-
pated in the reading of the Haggadah in
one way or another.
"We made a river in the middle of the
Andrew Foltyn Social Hall, where our

seder takes place said Andre Douville,
executive director. "The river represents
the Red Sea, complete with red food
coloring and pumps to simulate the
current. Kids made baskets with a baby
Moses, placed them in the river and
watched as the baskets float down the
river. The winner gets a special prize,
but all the kids get an Afikomen gift."
Said Moskowitz, "Seder dinner at
Temple has always been special, but
this year, with 57 children and so
many congregants and friends who
wanted to share in the holiday togeth-
er, it was even more meaningful." ❑
