Uplifting Film Celebrates
Israel's Accomplishments

On Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel
Independence Day, JerusalemOnlineU.
com and Aish Detroit present the new
documentary Israel Inside: How a Small
Nation Makes a Big Difference. The
feature-length film will be shown 7:30
p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Maple
Art Theater, 4135 W. Maple Road,
Bloomfield Township. Tickets are $10.
The movie explores the positive
characteristics of Israeli society from
a humanistic, psychological and emo-
tional perspective. This insightful and
uplifting documentary sidesteps the
usual conversation of politics, conflict
and violence, and tells the story of
the Israeli people — whose resilience
has propelled Israel to the forefront of
world innovation and progress.
The guest speaker will be Dr. Tal
Ben Shahar, author, former Harvard
University lecturer and host of Israel
Inside. Through his eyes, explore the
deep-seated values such as education,
family and responsibility for the world
(a Jewish concept known as tikkun
olam), which directly contribute to
Israel's accomplishments in the eco-
nomic, technological and humanitarian
spheres.

Raffle Raises $23,000
To Aid Kids, Disabled

JVS, JARC, the Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan Detroit and
the Friendship Circle partnered for the
third year in the SuperRaffle to raise
critically needed funds for children
and adults with disabilities. Team
members from each of the agencies
reached out, raising $23,500 to be split
among the four agencies.
The drawing took place March
4 at the JCC in West Bloomfield at
the Center's Camp Kids All Together
(KAT) event, a day of family fun to
support children with special needs.
Proceeds from the SuperRaffle sup-
port the agencies' common goal, which
is to enhance the quality of life and
community inclusion for children and
adults with disabilities.
