sen from high

country to partici-
pate in AIPAC's
Barpal
Student Speakers
Bureau and
Advanced Solicitation Training. Barpal,
the daughter of Elissa and Ofer Barpal
of West Bloomfield, attended AIPAC's
Saban Leadership Program as well as
AIPAC's High School Summit last fall.
She is involved in the Frankel Zionists,
FJA!s Israel Advocacy club, and was
instrumental in coordinating a visit by
Congressman Gary Peters to the school
in March.

schools in our new
Cap & Gown Yearbook
2012. The Yearbook
will be published in
our May 24 issue.
For free, we will
include a photo
and up to 35 words
listing the student's name, school and
accomplishments. We also encourage families
to honor their students, out-of-state or college
graduates with a congratulatory ad.

Tedi Dorman, a
senior at Frankel
Jewish Academy, has
won a Silver Key
Award for Drawing
in the 2012
Southeastern
Michigan Region
Dorman
Scholastic Art and
Writing
Competition. Her drawing was select-
ed out of more than 4,000 works sub-
mitted. She is the daughter of Norma
and Dr. Michael Dorman of West
Bloomfield.

Evan Arbit, a junior
at Andover High
School, has been
awarded two Silver
Keys and two
Certificates of Merit
for his photographic
pieces entered into
Arbit
the 2012
Southeastern
Michigan Region Scholastic Art and
Writing Awards. He is the son of Edie
and Dr. Steven Arbit of West Bloomfield.

Matt Friedman, co-
founder of
Farmington Hills-
based Tanner
Friedman, has been
added to the Hall of
Fame at Syracuse
University's WJPZ-
Friedman
FM, the student-run
radio station.
Friedman served as news anchor and
reporter, sports anchor, news producer,
assistant news director and chaired
WJPZ's Board of Directors during his
time at Syracuse. He was inducted into
the hall in a ceremony on March 3 at
Syracuse.

Hospice of
Michigan's Board of
Trustees has elected
Sanford J. Linden of
Farmington Hills as
chairman of the
board for a two-year
term. Linden, found-

er and CEO of
Professional Parent Care Inc., has
served in a variety of volunteer and
board roles at Hospice since 1983.

director of

Business Programs
at the College of
Business, Eastern
Michigan University,
is the editor-in-chief

Jewelry designers recently gathered
for the annual AGTA (American Gem
Trade Association) Spectrum Awards
ceremony in Tucson, Ariz., which is
America's most prestigious jewelry
design competition. International
award-winning jewelry designer Link
Wachter of Link Wachter Designs, resi-
dent of Troy, was honored for his design
in the Men's Category.

one of Clal's "Rabbis
Without Borders',' was
named one of 10 win-
ners of the Jewish
Influencer Award in
Social Media.

Max Olender, a
freshman in the
College of
Engineering at the
University of
Michigan, has been
awarded the William
J. Branstrom
Olender
Freshman Prize,
which is given annually to first-year
undergraduate students whose aca-
demic achievement during their first
semester on campus places them in
the upper 5 percent of their college
class. Olender is a June 2011 graduate
of Detroit Country Day School. He
and his family are members of Adat
Shalom Synagogue in Farmington
Hills.
