he Jewish Women's
Foundation (JWF) will
screen Miss Representation,
introduced by Rochelle Riley, Detroit
Free Press columnist and family
activist, and followed by a conversa-
tion with renowned advocate and
anti-violence trainer, Dr. Jackson
Katz, at its annual issue aware-
ness and advocacy forum, Women
Lighting the Way, on April 15.
Miss Representation is a powerful
documentary about the treatment of
women and girls in the mainstream
media and our culture. This year's
program featuring Katz is being pre-
sented in partnership with the Jewish
Coalition Against Domestic Abuse
(JCADA) to fight sexism in the media
and empower women and girls.
Following its premiere at the 2011
Sundance Film Festival, the documen-
tary feature film is being screened at
schools, universities, corporations,
government, institutions, community
organizations and film festivals.
The JWF will screen Miss
Representation at 3 p.m. Sunday,
April 15, at the Seligman Performing
Arts Center at Detroit Country Day
School, 22305 W. 13 Mile, Beverly
Hills. After the screening, Katz will
offer remarks and lead a discussion
with the audience. This PG-13 pro-
gram is sponsored by the D. Dan and
Betty Kahn Family Foundation and
has been endorsed by many commu-
nity organizations.
