Bloomfield, died March 8, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter and
son-in-law, Joanne and Robert Schwarz
of California ; grandchildren, Deborah

Hurley, James Schwarz (Jim Zayac),
Helaine (Larry) Russman, Matthew
(Debbi) Chasnick, David (Debbie)
Chasnick; great-grandchildren, Charles,
Caryn, Adam, Molly, Daniel, Hannah, Aida,
Drew, Ilissa, Brett, Austin.
Mrs. Mazer was the beloved wife of
the late Marshall Beckman, the late
David Gooze and the late Nathan Mazer;
mother of the late Diane (the late Irving)
Chasnick.
Contributions may be to a charity of
one's choice. Interment took place at
Clover Hill Park Cemetery in Birmingham.

DR. JACK UPFAL, 65, of

ABRAHAM "AP' SCHWARTZ, 89, of

Farmington Hills, died March 10, 2012.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Schwartz
was also a past board member of Hebrew
Benevolent Society. He was a pharmacist
for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Dr. Bernard and Deborah

Upfal

Phoenix, Ariz., died
March 9, 2012.
He graduated from the
University of Michigan
School of Dentistry.
Dr. Upfal is survived
by his mother, Wela
Upfal; brothers and sis-

ters-in-law, Mark and Lynn Upfal, Nathan
and Rochelle Upfal; nieces and nephew,
Emily Upfal, Julie Upfal, Emily Brouwers,
Jessica Upfal and Joshua Upfal; friends,
Richard Kronick and Howard Reich of
Phoenix.
Dr. Upfal was the beloved son of the late
Charles Upfal.
Interment at National Memorial
Cemetery in Phoenix. Contributions

JONAH WITTENBERG, 89, of Oak Park,

died March 10, 2012.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr.
Wittenberg was a mechanical engineer
and also an inventor for NASA. He became
a stamp dealer and member of the Detroit
Philatelic Society and a bridge club.
He is survived by his dear friend, Shirley
Sweet; son and daughter-in-law, David and
Pat Wittenberg of Southfield; daughter
and son-in-law, Tamar and Eliahu Ellis
of Jerusalem, Israel; brother and sister-'
in-law, Dr. Sidney and Pat Wittenberg

of Mission Viejo, Calif.; grandchildren,
Elisabeth Wittenberg, Adam Wittenberg,
Chaya Vita and Menachem Manovits,
Meier Yosef Ellis, Akiva Moshe Ellis, Chana
Devora Ellis; great-grandchild, Rochel
Baila Manovits.
Mr. Wittenberg was the beloved hus-
band of the late Vivi Wittenberg; dear
brother of the late Viola Wittenberg.
Contributions may be made to a charity
of one's choice. Interment was at Hebrew
Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hebrew
Memorial Chapel.

151-300 words, etc. A photo counts
as 30 words. There is no charge for
a Holocaust survivor icon.
