HONORING
Centralization of the work of the four national civic protective agencies —American
Jewish Committee, Anti-Defamation League, B'nai B'rith, American Jewish Congress
— and Jewish Labor Committee was proposed in a program outlined and presented
for consideration for immediate action at the 10th General Assembly of the Council
of Jewish Federations in Cleveland last weekend.
The Assembly adopted a resolution authorizing the committee acting on the
coordination of civic-protective agencies to continue their efforts to achieve a
unified program for the protection of the civic and social status of the Jews of
America.
This decision was reached after several hours of debate during which it was
indicated that three of the national agencies favor the latest proposals and a fourth
is opposed to the plan but is prepared to negotiate along the lines proposed.
