lots (and lots) of hand-formed,
individually created, assorted, but-
tery, rich choices of truffles, pretzels, nuts,
fruit, marshmallows and macaroons — all
decadently coated in chocolate.
Since the fall of 2010, Leah Fox's West
Bloomfield-based business, whose tag line
is "deliciously dipped treats," has produced
unique, indulgent, alluring gift trays along
with smaller table plate versions that
sweeten weddings, b'nai mitzvah, showers
and other parties.
Unlike the more typical candy trays that
contain bought and assembled bagged can-
dies and dried fruits, each and every item on
each and every choc.o.lots tray is hand-cre-
ated and dipped in dark or white chocolate,
first melted and stirred to a smooth texture.
And that's just the beginning.
A plain pretzel is enhanced and beauti-
fied, first by being hand-dipped in melted
caramel, then rolled in toffee, dipped in
chocolate and, finally, decorated with swirls
of an opposing flavor chocolate.
Peanut butter truffles are made from
scratch with a mixture including peanut
butter, graham crackers, butter and sugar —
and, of course, chocolate.
And then there's the caramel pecan
marshmallow mound, created by dipping
marshmallows in caramel, rolling them in
pecans — and dipping them in chocolate.
Chocolate-dipped macaroons start with
macaroons — baked from scratch — and
then dipped. Nuts are candied and drizzled
with chocolate. The center of the tray can
be highlighted with caramel pecan and
caramel toffee apples, again dipped in
chocolate.
You won't find pink and green sprinkles
or bright food-colored coatings on items on
choc.o.lots' trays and plates. The elegantly
displayed treats are deliberately created
in natural colors, with everything dipped in
either white or dark chocolate.
The varieties of dipping items are endless,
but nothing makes its way onto a tray unless
it first meets up with "lots o chocolate."
