JANE BERNSTEIN GORDON, 78, of Atlanta, Ga., died Feb. 4, 2012. She was born in New York City on March 4, 1933, one of three children and the only daughter of Samuel L. and Anne Bernstein. Mrs. Gordon grew up in the Fort Washington Heights area of Manhattan. She moved to Michigan to attend college and graduated from Michigan State University in 1954. It was at college where she met David, and they married in 1954. They settled in the Detroit area, where Jane began a 40-year teaching career with the Ferndale Public School System. Her devotion to education and young people won her the acco- lades of colleagues and administra- tors alike and a loyal following of students and families. Retiring in 1994, she continued to pursue her passion in reading; she was always willing to pass along a tip for a good book to read or to lend one from her overflowing col- lection. A terrific conversationalist, she was a warm and receiving per- son who mixed well in any setting and enjoyed many friendships. Mrs. Gordon is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Philip Beaudette of Atlanta, Ga.; son, Harry Gordon of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Kristen Gordon and Erik Gordon; brothers and sisters- in-law, Joel and Vera Bernstein of Irvington, N.Y., and Herbert Bernstein of Long Island, N.Y., and niece and nephew, Linda and Daniel Brocket and their three children. For 56 years, she was the beloved wife of the late David E Gordon and the devoted daughter of the late Samuel L. and the late Anne Bernstein. Interment was at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
