Wayne McGregor I Random Dance was founded in 1992 and became the instrument

upon which McGregor evolved his drastically fast and articulate choreographic

style. The company became a byword for its radical approach to new technology,

incorporating animation, digital film, 3-D architecture, electronic sound, and virtual

dancers into the live choreography. As artist-in-residence at the Department of

Experimental Psychology at the University of Cambridge, McGregor created FAR, which
stands for "Flesh in the Age of Reason," an Enlightenment-era book about scientific

inquiry and how it changed the idea of body and soul. "There is much to marvel at,

starting with a computerized pin board of 3,200 LED lights by Random International

that hangs at the back of the stage...The dancers continually emerge from under this

light and recede into the darkness around it." (The New York Times)

Presented with major support from the Creative Ventures Leadership Fund.

Funded in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Art Works.
