Celebrating its 53rd summer, Walden
is a coed overnight camp in Northern
Michigan for ages 7 to 17. In the state's
lower peninsula, the camp sits on a
pristine 150 acres outside the city of
Cheboygan. Walden stretches along Long
Lake, a clear, sand bottom, spring-fed
body of water where campers enjoy activi
ties in just about any watercraft you can
imagine. As a traditional summer camp,
Walden offers a huge range of activities
in addition to the waterfront, from sports
and arts to horseback riding and theater.
Walden campers roast marshmallows, sing
songs, stargaze and drink "bug juice And
they do not-so-traditional stuff such as
mountain biking, lapidary and yoga. Kids
choose their own classes and, with the
guidance of a committed and highly pro-
fessional staff, find out what its like to be
"on their own" for part of the summer.
