ETCETERA

ll right. You've made special
plans for Valentine's Day. Your
special someone is cooking
a romantic dinner, and you want to
show up with a bottle of wine that
not only matches the meal she's so
lovingly prepared but has a romantic,
pretty label. After all, looks count for
something, and you don't want to look
like an idiot when you walk in the door.
Special thanks to Anthony Minne, wine expert at Plum Market in West
Bloomfield, for the picks.

CLINE CASHMERE

Blend of Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah
grapes
This silky blend of California grapes hold
hints of dark red fruit, plum, raspberry jam and
strawberry jam. Cashmere notes are soft and
lush; goes well with beef, salmon or duck.

MICHELE CHIARLO NIVOLE

MOSCATO D'ASTI DESSERT WINE

Moscato grapes from D'Asti in North-
west Italy
Nivole means "cloud" in Italian, and this
wine is light and sweetly effervescent but
not as sparkly as champagne. It's very floral
and exotic, with mild acidity and hints of
gardenia and rose petal. It complements
fruit-based desserts, custard or cream, and
fruit or cheese.

GRANBAZAN
Albarino grape from the Rias Baixas
region of northern Spain
This wine has an intense aroma, with lots
of lemon, lime and white peach notes. It's
very lively, with a saltiness to it because
the grapes grow so close to the ocean. It's
great with fish, chicken and strong cheeses.

FOUR GRACES PINOT NOIR
From the Williamette Valley in
California
This medium-bodied wine has hints
of bright red fruit, strawberries, cherry
and lots of clove and cinnamon spici-
ness, too. It's great with chicken, and
the bottle shape and label resemble a
bottle of Champagne.
