he sale is closed but the resolution is still an open ques-
tion.
After a number of delays, and with a lawsuit against
the board and school district challenging the sale still in the
courts, the former Eagle Elementary School at Middlebelt and
14 Mile roads in West Bloomfield was sold by Farmington Public
Schools (FPS) to Islamic Cultural Association (ICA) of Franklin
for $1.1 million on Jan.12.
The ICA intends to establish the Muslim Community Center of
West Bloomfield on

The litigation he
refers to is a lawsuit filed last July 29 by Farmington Hills resi-
dents Eugene Greenstein and Melvyn Sternberg seeking to halt
the sale, and either demolish the building or allow others to bid
along with the ICA for the property. Sternberg, a real estate profes-
sional, claims he inquired about the property and was told it was
not for sale. The lawsuit alleges that other potential buyers were
also discouraged while the district was secretly considering an

After many years of silent grief, Gutman, a cantor at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, has decided to speak
out about the death of his sister Linda, who was killed by her
abusive husband at age 35 shortly after she filed for divorce.
Gutman said he was unaware his sister was being mistreated.
