Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. CHARLES WARSHAW, 89, of Wixom, passed away with peaceful dig- nity, Dec. 16, 2011, at home, surrounded by his amazing extended fami- ly. He was born May Warshaw 3, 1922, in Goniadz, Poland, and immigrated to the U.S. with his mother, Chana; his sister, Ann, and brothers, Harry and Irv. They arrived in October of 1927 through Ellis Island to reunite with his father, Morris. Mr. Warshaw was a proud member of the United States Army, serving in the European Theater for 17 months dur- ing World War II. He was a staff sergeant assigned to the 102D Signal Co., 102D Infantry Division. He was the family patriarch and beloved "Uncle Charlie" to all of his nieces and nephews on both the Warshaw and Dallas sides of the family. He loved them and cherished them more than they will ever know. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 60 years, Peggy (Bertha L. Dallas); his children, Debra (Clint) Scharff, Mark, Derek (Eileen Smith); the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Courtney and Robert Scharff, Dallas and Sam Warshaw; his beloved sister, Libby (Leo) Sklar. He was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Louis Warshaw, who passed away five days earlier, Dec. 11, 2011. A military memorial service is planned for this spring.
