Stein of Farmington Hills, Robert L. and Kayla Stein of West Bloomfield; many other loving family members and friends. Mrs. Stein was the beloved wife of the late Carl A. Stein. CHARLES WARSHAW, 89, of Wixom, passed away with peaceful dignity at home surrounded by his amazing extended family, Dec. 16, 2011. He was born May 3, 1922, in Goniadz, Poland, and immigrated to the U.S. with his mother, Chana; his sister, Ann; and brothers, Harry and Irv. They arrived in October 1927 through Ellis Island to reunite with his father, Morris. Mr. Warshaw was a proud mem- ber of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater for 17 months during World War II. He was a staff sergeant assigned to the 102d Signal Company, 102nd Infantry Division. He was the family patriarch and beloved "Uncle Charlie" to all of his nieces and nephews on both the Warshaw and Dallas sides of the family. He loved them and cherished them more than they will ever know. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 60 years, Peggy (Bertha L. Dallas); his children, Debra (Clint) Scharff, Mark, Derek (Eileen Smith); the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Courtney and Robert Scharff, Dallas and Sam Warshaw; his beloved sister, Libby (Leo) Sklar. He was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Louis Warshaw, who passed away five days earlier, Dec. 11, 2011. A military memorial service is planned for this spring. She loved her family and her art. Above all, she cherished her relation- ship with her daughter, Courtney Grant, and her grandson, Elijah Grant, both of whom gave her tremendous pleasure. Carol was a 1967 graduate of Southfield High School. She also was a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in education. She taught elementary school for a number of years in the Detroit area. In 1987, she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where she sold real estate for Ranch Realty on McCormick Ranch. Even after moving to Arizona, she considered herself a Detroiter to the end. She maintained lifelong relationships with people she knew since attending Vernor School in Detroit. Carol had a lifelong devotion to art. She spent much of her time drawing in charcoal, painting in watercolor and using pen and ink for architectural renderings. She had extraordinary artistic talent. She was the daughter of Harry and the late Elayne Wenner. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Grant; grandson, Elijah Grant; father, Harry Wenner; brother, David A. Wenner; sister, Judy Wenner- Fox; numerous nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
