LESLYE
INDENBAUM, 51, of
Franklin, died Jan. 6,
2012.
She is survived by
her husband, Michael
Indenbaum; daugh-
ters, Shoshana, Alyssa
Indenbaum
and Lily Indenbaum;
parents, Dr. Joel and Andrea Silberg;
brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Julie
Silberg of Novi; sisters and brother-in-
law, Stacey Feig of California, Lauren and
Roger Honet of West Bloomfield; moth-
er-in-law, Valerie Indenbaum; sisters-
in-law and brothers-in-law, Sarah and
Neal Krasnick, Amy and David Green,
Rebecca and Harry Wasvary; many
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Indenbaum was the loving
daughter-in-law of the late Dr. Samuel
Indenbaum.
Interment was held at Clover Hill Park

IRVING RAPHAEL ISAACS died Dec.
28, 2011.
He was born Oct. 19, 1917, in
Indianapolis, Ind., to Bernard and Belle
Isaacs. One of four children (siblings
Annette, Ruben and Emanuel) and
affectionately known as "Rip" to fam-
ily and friends, he was brought up in
Detroit, where his father was superin-
tendent of United Hebrew Schools. Mr.
Isaacs graduated from University of
Michigan, where he met his wife, Martha
Lillian Horelick of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Married in 1941, the couple moved
to Pittsburgh. After working together
with his wife as commercial photogra-
phers, Mr. Isaacs joined Pennsylvania
Transformer Company as advertising
manager. He enlisted in the Army Air
Corps during World War II and served
as a second lieutenant. He was a radar

observer/bombardier.
He left Pennsylvania Transformer
in 1962 after winning several national
awards for direct mail advertising.
During this time, he became presi-
dent of Temple Emanuel of South Hills
and served as building chairman. He
was president of the Jewish Chronicle,
Pittsburgh, from 1969-1972 and was
involved with numerous charitable
causes. He continued to work in com-
munications and owned and ran several
businesses over the years.
Trained in commercial art, Mr. Isaacs
was an outstanding artist with pen and
ink, oil and later batik and pottery. His
humor was legendary as were his engag-
ing personality and his ability to corn-
municate and relate with family, friends
and strangers. Many sought him out for
counsel.
He loved to fish, particularly for
muskie in Wisconsin and Canada, and
was an avid horseman.
Mr. Isaacs maintained his sense of
humor even in his declining years. He
was an outstanding husband, father and
friend whose physical presence will be
missed but whose enduring memory will
be cherished.
Mr. Isaacs is survived by three chil-
dren and three grandchildren: Marjorie
(Isaacs) Newman, husband Martin
Newman and their son, Adam Newman;
David G. Isaacs, wife Shannon and
their son, Reid; Jeffrey A. Isaacs, wife
Jeanne and their son, Jonathan; brother,
Emanuel.
His beloved wife Martha passed away
in 2007.
Graveside services were held
at West View Cemetery of Rodef
Shalom Congregation in Pittsburgh.

BEATRICE KAPLAN, 82, of Boynton
Beach, Fla., formerly of Detroit, died Jan.
1, 2012.
She is survived by her husband,
Sheldon Kaplan; son and daughter-in-
law, Dr. Allan Garland and Dr. Ruth Ann
Marrie of Winnepeg, Canada; daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Marcia Garland
of Farmington Hills, Marlene Garland
of Farmington Hills, Rene and Dennis
Hatlas of Oak Park; sister and brother-
in-law, Jane and Dr. Seymour Weiner
of West Bloomfield; grandson, Jacob
Kaplan; many loving nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Mrs. Kaplan was the beloved wife of
the late Norman Garland.

HINDI BROOKS (BOOKSTEIN)
KLEINMUNTZ, 85, of Santa Monica,
Calif., formerly of Detroit, died Dec. 16,
2011.
She began her prolific writing career
with Lux Radio Theatre. She moved on
to stage plays and television, includ-
ing numerous episodes of The Waltons
and Little House on the Prairie. Two of
her stage plays are currently running in
Europe.
Mrs. Kleinmuntz is survived by her
husband of 60 years, Manny; son, Josh
(Victoria Adler) of Jackson Hts., N.Y.;
daughter, Nomi of Palms, Calif.; brother,
Marvin (Gloria/Goldie) of Bloomfield
Hills; grandchildren, Tessa and Julian;
nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harold
Bookstein; daughter of the late Joseph
and the late Fay Bookstein.
