Vivian DeGain I Special to the Jewish News H onoring its history and envisioning its future success, Temple Emanu-El in Oak Park celebrates its 60th anni- versary in 2012 with a calendar full of events and com- memorations that kick off this weekend, Jan. 13-15. When temple founders established the Reform congrega- tion in 1952, the Jewish values of social action and tikkun olam were regarded as most important, and those values have endured at Emanu-El to this day. In the past few weeks, three successful social action programs were completed by hundreds of temple members. Bea Sacks, who died on Jan. 3, was a founder, former two-time congregation president and established social action leader in the greater Jewish community who inspired the annual "Send CONTINUED ON PAGE 12
