It was an amazing success! This is my sixth year as team captain on Mitzvah Day, and every year I have made many mitzvah memories. This year, volun- teers and I were at Detroit Rescue Mission theJEW1SHNEWS.c m Ministries Christian Center. We prepared and served meals to the homeless and less fortunate. It was truly a heart-warming and humbling experience. I am very honored to be part of Mitzvah Day and look forward to making many more mitzvah memories in the years to come. Kevin Browett Chief Operating Officer as a menorah at the Chanukah Wonderland last month. Our Apologies W e appreciate all the time, effort and talent the community's young artists always put into their submissions for the JN's annual Chanukah art contest. Each year, we are delighted and surprised by the wonder- ful artwork that fills our conference room table just before we start our judging. In 2010, contest art submitted by all the children made a positive statement at the Chanukah Wonderland. This Chanukah, the entries were arranged in the shape of a menorah for all to enjoy publicly at Orchard Mall in West Bloomfield. More than 1,000 viewers admired them. FULFILLMENT circulationdesk@thejewishnews.com Customer Service Manager: Zena Davis DEPARTMENTS After this year's event, the artwork and other Chanukah Wonderland items were stored in an empty storefront. When Rabbi Shneur Silberberg of the nearby Sara and Morris Tugman Bais Chabad Torah Center, which sponsored the event, came to retrieve the artwork, he discovered maintenance staff at the mall had discarded the entries. Silberberg and personnel at the mall searched everywhere, but the artwork could not be found. Those of us at the Jewish News and Bais Chabad Torah Center feel horrible about the loss of the precious artwork and apol- ogize to all the young artists.
