FRED J. BERNSTEIN,
84, of Boca Raton,
Fla., formerly of West
Bloomfield, died Dec. 20,
2011.
Mr. Bernstein was
a World War II Navy
veteran and the owner
Bernstein
of Hadley's clothing
stores of Michigan. He was an avid golfer
and a former member of Tam-O-Shanter
Country Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy;
son, Todd Bernstein; daughters and sons-
in-law, Meryl and Marc Sakwa, Gayle and
Arnie Goodman. He was very proud of his
grandchildren, Jenna, Connor and Sydney
Sakwa, Alexa and Madison Bernstein,
Jaclyn, Richard and Nicole Goodman. He
was brother to Sybil and the late Gerald
Pulver of Key Biscayne, Fla..
Interment was held in Miami, Fla.

LORRAINE GALE, 89, of Farmington
Hills, died Dec. 19, 2011.
She is survived by her son and daughter-
in-law, Dr. Jerry and Barbara Gale of
Athens, Ga.; daughters and son-in-law,

Marci Meyers of Farmington Hills, Margie
Gale and Jake Wilson of Tampa, Fla.; grand-
children, Rachel (Michael) Boyd, Marla
(Paul) Vermillion and Hannah Gale; great-
grandchildren, David, Hosanna, Isaac and
Anastasia; many loving nieces, nephews,
other family members and friends.
Mrs. Gale was the beloved wife of the
late Alvin Gale.

one's choice. Interment took place at the
Adat Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery
in Livonia. Arrangements by Dorfman

JEAN GAVERN, 83, of Grand Rapids, died
Dec. 19, 2011.
She is survived by her beloved husband,
Allan Gavern of Grand Rapids; son and
daughter-in-law, Frank and Denise Gavern
of Grand Rapids; daughter and son-in-law,
Adrienne and David Tomlinson of Merion
Station, Pa.; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Jocey and Sidney Rochman of Anthem,
Ariz., Shirley and Sol Lederer; grandchil-
dren, Jessica Tomlinson, Alex Gavern and
Nick Gavern; many other loving family
members and friends.
Mrs. Gavern was the sister of the late
Don Perliss, the late Elizabeth Perliss and

the late Riva Klett.

Interment took place at the Machpelah
Cemetery in Ferndale. Arrangements by

NAOMI K. MANDLEBAUM, 103, of
Bloomfield Township, died Dec. 19, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Frank
Mandlebaum of West Bloomfield;
daughter, Karen Moss; grandchildren,
Jonathan (Lorna) Moss, Lauren (Matthew)
Goldman, Joshua and Sarah Mandlebaum;
great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alex and
Mitchell; many other loving family mem-
bers and friends.
Mrs. Mandlebaum was the beloved wife
of the late Daniel Mandlebaum.
