Friendship Circle
Marks Chanukah
The Friendship Circle of West
Bloomfield welcomes the community
to a special Chanukah party from 3-5
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. A 45-minute
live "Animal Magic" show with Mark
Rosenthal will feature critters like
bats, snakes, tarantulas, opossums,
bunny rabbits, birds and fox.
There will be an indoor carnival
with prizes, traditional Chanukah
treats, a chance to create doughnuts,
fun arts and crafts, and a jungle-
themed photo booth.
"Chanukah in the Wild" is open
to area families with children who
have special needs and the cost is
$10 per family, regardless of how big
the family. Friendship Circle mem-
bership is not required, yet reserva-
tions are a must. Go to www.news.

call (248) 788-7878.

Recycle
Recycling saves materials, conserves
energy and reduces the amount of
waste going into our landfills.
There are many websites with recy-
cled materials you can give as gifts:
http://hazon.bigcartel.com/ has some
great selections. This website also
offers splendid ideas on how to green
your home and the planet. Brainstorm
with friends and family for more
ideas, and you can make lists that are
high as the big blue sky.
But the most important thing to
remember during the winter holiday
season is that it's a time to come closer
to each other, to our magnificent planet
and to our Creator. It's more about fam-
ily and values than about gifts. We need
to develop an "attitude of gratitude" for
all God's blessing. The best blessing is
Mother Earth. In this holiday season,
let's give her a present of our love. How's
that for a great gift! Li

An Innovative Idea
Jewish Communal Service
Tenpartners was one of two innova-
tive ideas that won the worldwide
2011 Jewish Futures Competition
sponsored by the Jewish Education
Project and JESNAs Lippman Kanfer
Institute. The award was presented
on Nov. 7 at the second annual
Jewish Futures Conference held at
the General Assembly of the Jewish
Federations of North America in
Denver.
Tenpartners is an innovative plat-
form that enables groups of local
Jewish people to collaborate and
create great Jewish events and experi-
ences for their local Jewish communi-
ties. Its model, based on technology
and financial sustainability, makes lay
leadership accessible and affordable
for young Jewish professionals.
