MARSHALL
HERSH, 72, of West
Bloomfield, died
Dec. 7, 2011.
He was a social
worker for Southfield
Public Schools for 34
years, until his retire-

ment in 2001. Prior
to that, he taught industrial arts in the
Detroit Public Schools and was a first
lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mr. Hersh was a graduate of Eastern
Michigan University and Wayne State
University. For many years, he worked
summers at Camp Tamarack as the
resident director, program director,

counselor, teen trip supervisor, and he
later served on the Fresh Air Society
board. He was active in Temple Beth
El's Married Group and Brotherhood,
particularly the men's cooking classes.
Mr. Hersh is survived by his beloved
wife, Marilyn Hersh; son, Bryan Hersh
and his wife Stacey of Chicago; daugh-
ter, Debbi Headley and her husband
Jacob of California; brother, Lenny
Hersh and his wife Susie of California;
brother-in-law, Philip Jaffe of
Birmingham; sister-in-law, Jodi Jaffe
(the late Michael) of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Zach and Brandon
Hersh, Maddie, Izzy and Jer Headley;
his dog, Rudy.
He was the dear son of the late Betty
and the late Julius Hersh.

ROSALIE KOLBERT, 89, of
Bloomfield Hills and Miami Beach,
Fla., died Dec. 11, 2011.
She was active with the National
Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah
and the Orchards Children's Services.
Mrs. Kolbert is survived by her son,
Frank Kolbert of Miami Beach and
Cooperstown, N.Y., and his partner,
Frank Farmer; daughter, Kathryn
Kolbert of Philadelphia, Pa., and
her partner, Joann Hyle; grandchil-
