A simple metal bed frame offers contrast to the billowy white bed;
underfoot, an indoor/outdoor rug makes easy cleanup from the family's
four cats and dirty feet that might track through from the attached
screened-in porch. A family friend shot the portraits of the couple's

hard to make it that way. An antiques-
shop and flea-market fiend, Keller has
rescued and refinished many of what
end up being the most coveted pieces
in her home. Her secret: "You can do
anything with some slipcovers and a
can of spray paint," she says. "And I'm
very frugal — I like to find treasures
and I like it to look nice, but I don't
want to spend a lot."
The couple bought the 900-square-
foot bungalow, built in 1945, in 1980,
just before they were married. "Then
I had a baby, then I had another baby
— they slept in the same room:' says
Keller. So they added 800 square feet
in 1991,and then added a 500-square-
foot second floor in 1997.
"It's warm and cozy:' says Keller. "We
feel we can sit anywhere and be com-
fortable. It's not big and overwhelming,
but we've used every inch of space." fl
