CHARITY POT
In addition to being deliciously decadent for the
face and body, Lush Cosmetics are known for
being eco-friendly, organic, and ethically and
socially conscious. No preservatives, no animal
testing (or buying ingredients from companies
that do), and campaigns like Save our Seals and
Ban the Shark Fin Trade are just a typical day at
Lush.
But one of the company's owners wanted
to have a product solely for charitable giving,
and so they bottled one of Lush's first lotions
— made with skin-softening, fairly traded
cocoa butter and geranium essential oil — in
an unassuming black pot and called it Charity
Pot ($21.95), exuding a scent like a pot of rich
and creamy chocolate. Every penny, excluding
tax, goes to grassroots charities around the
world, including Goodie Two Shoes Foundation
(providing disadvantaged children with new
shoes and socks), NOLA Green Roots (teaching
New Orleans residents how to grow fruits and
vegetables at a low cost) and the International

specific organizations — and informs them
how their donations will be used. Among
the options: at-risk children receive 10 warm
blankets from the United States Fund for
