Make A Bowl,
Feed A Soul

Beth Ahm congregants create

bowls for dinner dedicated to

helping the hungry.

C

ongregation Beth Ahm in West
Bloomfield hosted the first component
of an "Empty Bowls" program focused
on hunger awareness and prevention on Nov. 8.
More than 150 participants, along with "Empty
Bowls" representative Michael Phillips, made
ceramic bowls that will be auctioned for charity
on Dec. 4 at the "Empty Bowls" fundraising din-
ner at Beth Ahm.
Materials were donated by the Creative Arts
Studio in Royal Oak.
The Dec. 4 dinner, a soup kitchen-style meal
of soup and bread donated by Paul Wertz of
Dish Kosher Cuisine, also will feature hands-on
activities to support local charities. Bowls made
by local artists will be included in the auction.
All funds raised will be donated to the American
Jewish World Service Global Hunger relief efforts.
Co-chairs for the event are Nancy Kalef and Nina
Rosenblum.
For more information about the Empty Bowls
dinner and to view the urgent needs list from local
charities, visit www.cbahm.org/empty-bowls-dec-4 .
Reservations for the dinner are requested by Nov.
30. Suggested donation is $10 per person or $25
per family. For information or to register, call
Jewish Family Educator Nina Rosenblum at (248)
851-6880 or email nrosenblum@cbahm.org . 7
