She was born in the Bronx, N.Y. She was a lover of the arts and spent many years volunteering at the Detroit Institute of Arts. She gave lectures on various styles of artwork to school- children in the Detroit area and also acted as a docent (tour guide) at the museum. Mrs. Newman was involved in other organizations, including the League of Women Voters and a Jewish study group that met weekly for more than 20 years. She worked as a secretary for many years and was formerly the administrative assistant to the Massachusetts Bar Association Committee on Continuing Education. Mrs. Newman is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Adele Newman and Mike Hinckley of Mountain View, Calif.; son and daugh- ter-in-law, Martin Newman and Sandra Mackler of Westfield, Mass.; grandchil- dren, Max and Charles Newman. She was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Seymour Newman. Interment was held at Beth El Memorial Park.
