the partial four-year term.
The school board race was fierce,
especially sparked by the board's sale of
the former Eagle Elementary School in
West Bloomfield. This issue prompted
Ginsberg and Kahn to enter the race,
though as their campaigns progressed
they zeroed in on the district's aca-
demic rankings.
For several weeks, letters from read-
ers supporting school board incum-
bent Wallach or challengers Ginsberg
and Kahn filled the JN's Letters pages
as well as the paper's online blogs at
thejewishnews.com .
Wallach had been appointed to the
school board to complete a term. He
has been re-elected three times. He
said he will continue his focus on stu-
dent achievement.
Kahn said in a statement that he
"will fulfill my pledge to objectively
consider the policies and issues that
come before the board to promote the
best interests of the students."
Gurrola began his term this week;
the other school board terms from the
election begin after Dec. 31.

ness and technology.
"This is an excellent opportu-
nity for all Michigan seniors and
alumni to meet with prospective
employers:' said Ebony Jones, a
senior corporate relations manager
with Eastern Michigan University.
"Employers will be looking to hire
new graduates and alumni for
entry-level positions."
