Bar-Ilan University opens first medical school in the Galilee - a national
priority according to Israeli President Peres and Prime Minister Netanyahu

Girls from Safed present President Peres, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and BIU President Kaveh with the scissors to
perform the Oct. 30 ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Medical School's temporary site.

Israel's fifth medical school - its first in 37 years - opens
Site I as construction begins on permanent campus.

Allows 124 Israeli students, 54 of whom began their studies
abroad, to complete their education at home — reflecting
Bar-Ilan's leadership to reverse the "brain drain" phenomenon
affecting Israel.
Upgrades the quality of medical services in the Galilee and
addresses Israel's shortage of physicians.
- Embodies BIU's mission by integrating Jewish values and
ethics into medical practice.
Offers an innovative curriculum based on the best practices
of top-echelon US medical schools.
Serves as a magnet for the region's economic and
population growth.
