ANDREW GAWRONSKY passed
away quietly on Nov. 2, 2011, after
complications from a stroke.
Born July 20, 1920, in
Pennsylvania, he was accomplished
in many areas including art, religion
and medicine. He served as chaplain
at the Heritage, a community for
senior citizens. He was constantly
doing service, visiting the sick and
uplifting those who were troubled.
Mr. Gawronsky is survived by his
daughter, Debra Johnson; two step-
daughters; eight grandchildren; his
special companion, Sonia Kudewitz;
and the Jackier, Folbe and Curhan
families.
A memorial service was held
at the Heritage. Interment in
Massapequa, N.Y.

GERALD
GILBERT, 85, of
Bountiful, Utah,
died Nov. 2, 2011.
He graduated
from Central High
in Detroit and
attended Wayne
Gilbert
State University.
Mr. Gilbert worked
for his father at Standard Blueprint,
where he met the company's book-
keeper, Donna. After six years of dat-
ing, they married on Oct. 31, 1965.
He then worked for many years in
the blueprinting industry, including
Giffels & Associates in Detroit.
Mr. Gilbert enjoyed sports of all
kinds and could quote statistics of all
the Detroit sports teams. He did all he
could to ensure that his children lived
a more comfortable life than he did.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife,
Donna Gilbert; daughter, Leah Forster
of Utah; son, Bruce Gilbert of Wayne;
grandson, Lucas Gilbert.
He was the devoted son of the late
David and the late Lillian Gilbert;
the dear brother of the late Marilyn
Freedman.
Interment was held at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the University of Michigan
Health System, Ataxia Research
Neurology, 1500 E. Medical Center
Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48109; or

SAM M. HOFFMAN, 90, of
Southfield, died Oct. 31, 2011.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Bruce and Shelly
Hoffman of Bloomfield Hills; daugh-

Daniel Davis of West Bloomfield,

Valerie and Dr. Geoffrey Trivax of
West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Jacob
(Jessi) Hoffman, Josh Hoffman, Jarett
Hoffman, Dr. Bradley (Tracy) Trivax,
Dr. Cory Trivax (fiancée, Stephanie
Becker), Dr. Justin (Jodi) Trivax,
Amanda (Brian) Burnovski, Kyle
Davis, Clay Davis; great-grandchildren,
Tessa, Sienna, Landon, Lennox,
Emerson, Lawson, Charlotte; many
loving nieces, nephews, other family
members, friends and neighbors.

charity of one's choice. Interment was
held at the Nusach Hari Cemetery in
Ferndale. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.

WILLIAM KATZENSTEIN, 84, of
West Bloomfield, died Nov. 1, 2011.
He was a spectacular husband,
father, grandfather and friend and
will be best remembered for his kind-
ness and the smile he had for all.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Dorothyanne of West Bloomfield;
sons and daughters-in-law,
Andrew and Robin Katzenstein
of Los Angeles, Daniel and Esther
Katzenstein of Birmingham; brother
and sister-in-law, Dr. Werner and Inge
Katzenstein; grandchildren, Joshua,
Laurin, Megan, Jason, Jeremy and
Hannah Katzenstein; many loving
nieces, nephews, other family mem-
bers and friends.
A memorial service will be
held on Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at the
American House Senior Apts. in
West Bloomfield. Contributions may
be made to Keep Memory Alive-
in support of the Cleveland Clinic
Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
