Supporting
Israeli Soldiers

Annual Friends of the

Israel Defense Forces

dinner draws 800.

E

ven in this dismal economy, the
Michigan Friends of the Israel
Defense Forces Annual Dinner
attracted more than 800 people to
Congregation Shaarey Zedek on Oct. 23
in support of this organization that does
so much to support IDF troops.
Lt. Seva of the IDF spoke to the group
about the heroic mission in which he
saved fellow soldiers but also sustained
wounds that left him paralyzed from
the waist down. That did not stop Seva,
who has since completed officers' train-
ing and vows to walk someday. He
was introduced by Andrew Hiller of
Franklin, a member of the Michigan
FIDF Young Leadership group.
Another highlight of the event was a
tribute to Steven Zack, who recently died
of a brain tumor. Zack was a corporate
sponsor of FIDF's annual "Guys Night Out"
and the "Women's Luncheon" events, and a
supporter of FIDF's annual Gala Dinner.
The event raised $500,000. The FIDF
is still seeking support for 25 Impact!
college scholarships for combat soldiers
who cannot afford the tuition. To donate,
contact Tamir Oppenheim at (248) 926-
4110 or at tamir@fidf.org . I I
