top innovative groups.

CCESS, AJC's new gen-
eration program, has been
named by Slingshot '11-
'12 as one of the 50 most innovative
Jewish nonprofits in North America.
Slingshot's mission is to strengthen
innovation in Jewish life by developing
next-generation fenders and providing
resources to leverage their impact in
the Jewish community as well as sup-
porting and growing Jewish innova-
tion. It is the second consecutive year
Slingshot has honored ACCESS.
Founded in 2005,
ACCESS facilitates
diplomatic and
cross-cultural
engagement for
politically savvy
Jews in their 20s,
30s and early 40s.

Detroit',' said Alicia Chandler, a new co-
chair of the Global ACCESS steering
committee and a vice-president for AJC
Detroit. Professionally, she is assistant
counsel for Trinity Health.
In Detroit, ACCESS put on a
seminar titled "Truth, Lies and the
Z-Word" to help educate and facilitate
discussion on Judaism, Jewish history
and Israel. 1 I

Jewish Learning
WebYeshiva.org , the first interactive,
online Jewish Studies program, is now
offering all courses free of charge —
beginning with the fall semester— to
assist prospective students who had
previously been unable to enroll
because of the ongoing, global eco-
nomic crisis.
One new, featured course offered
by WebYeshiva.org this semester is
Rabbi Natan Slifkin's class entitled
"The Animal Kingdom in Jewish
Thought: From Ants to Elephants."
Rabbi Slifkin is best known for his
unique study of zoology's relationship
to Judaism and is popularly known as
the "Zoo Rabbi." His course will cover
the symbolism of predatory animals
in Judaism as well as the mythologi-
cal creatures that are contained in the
Midrash.
Other new courses include: "Jewish
Issues in Modern Society,""Jews and
Non-Jews in the Kitchen:' "The Story
of Creation: Maaseh Bereishit" and
"The Limits of Tolerance."
