WYN LANDIS, 88, a

former Detroiter of
Tamarac, Fla., died Oct.
18, 2011.
She began her sing-
ing career at age 4 and
continued until her
final performance of the
Landis
Mikado in December
of 2010.A coloratura
soprano, she sang with the Detroit and
Windsor symphonies, performed for
numerous war veterans for years after
World War II ended and was "actress in
residence" at the Omena Inn in northern
Michigan in the 1950s.

Mrs. Landis was a member of the Bel
Canto Choir and she was awarded a gold
medal for her work for the Pro Mozart
Society of Detroit at their 30th anniver-
sary. She partnered with her husband,
Harold, in the noted catering service
and event planning company Wyn and
Harold Catering. They also partnered
in the Harbor Inn restaurant and co-
authored the book Party Smarts. Upon
retirement to Florida in 1966, she and
Harold began performing at numerous
libraries, schools, hospitals and nursing
homes around the Ft. Lauderdale area
and they founded the Granville Players of
Tamarac, Fla.

Mrs. Landis is survived by her hus-
band of 59 years, Harold Landis; sons
and daughter-in-law, Lenny and Wendy
Newman, David Landis and his partner,

Ms. Rimar was the loving daughter of

MARGELEE GREENE
RUBY, 86, of West

Bloomfield, died Oct.
23, 2011.
She was a mem-
ber and active with
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek and sang with
Ruby
its choir. She was also
a member of ORT,
Hadassah and ZOA.
As a coloratura soprano, she sang with
the Michigan Opera Theatre as Mother
Superior and was known to her friends
as "Mother Shapiro." She also sang with
the Bel Canto Choir, the Zamir Choir
and was a 1000-mile swimmer. She was
a synchronized swimmer and taught
water exercise classes at the JCC and also
taught her grandchildren how to swim.
Mrs. Ruby was a certified cosmetolo-
gist and modeled for Clairol Company.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Robert and Judy
Ruby of Fairfax, Calif.; daughters and
sons-in-law, Denise Reuven and Byron
Cooley of White Lake, Joyce and Clifford

Berman of Bloomfield Hills; brother and
sisters-in-law, Howard and Carol Greene,
Lillian Greene; sister, Ruth Schwartz;
grandchildren, Stephen Charles Ruby,
Suzanne Leba Ruby, Shony Leib Reuven,
Robert Nolan Berman, Gabriel Lawrence
Berman, Jessica Cooley and Joshua Cooley.
Mrs. Ruby was the beloved wife of the
late Earl Ruby; dear sister and sister-in-
law of the late Sidney Greene, the late
Elliott Schwartz, the late Edythe and the
late Harry Futterman, the late Fritzie and
the late Bernard Dunn.

ESTHER SCHWARTZ, 92, of Oak Park,

died Oct. 21, 2011.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, David and Joan Schwartz
of Huntington Woods; daughter and
son-in-law Diane and Daniel Harris of
Huntington Woods; brother and sister-
in-law, Leonard and Sidney Milstone of
Lathrup Village; grandchildren, Lynne
Schwartz Bannon (Luke Bannon),
Jeffrey (Melissa) Pike, Greg Pike, Emily
Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Noah,
Zachary and Sophie, Noah, Megan, Lucy
and Elliot.
Mrs. Schwartz was the beloved wife of
the late Herman Schwartz; mother of the
late Bernard Schwartz; mother-in-law of
the late Barbara Schwartz; grandmother
of the late Steven Schwartz.
Interment was held at Oakview

MARVIN H. SIEGEL, 87, of West

Bloomfield, died Oct. 19, 2011.
He was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Ronald and Rochelle Siegel of
Farmington Hills, Steven Siegel and Kim
Herndon of Lind Lakes, Minn.; sisters,
Bobbie Hollander, Mickey Logan; grand-
children, Michael, Hayley and Philip;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gilbert
and Lenore Kaplan; many other loving
relatives and friends.
Mr. Siegel was the beloved husband
for 39 years of the late Naomi Siegel;
dear brother-in-law of the late Michael
Hollander and the late Jerry Logan.
