Black Women, Rape, and
esistance— a New History
f the Civil Rights Movement
EOM Rosa Parks to the Rise of
lack Power

Often described as a sweet and reticent elderly
woman whose tired feet caused her to defy
anielle L. McGuire
segregation on Montgomery's city buses, and
ultimately sparked the Civil Rights Movement,
the truth of who Rosa Parks was is far different from anything
previously written.

Flash back 10 years earlier to 1944 as a 24-year-old mother and
sharecropper, Recy Taylor, strolled home after an evening of singing
and praying at the Rock Hill Holiness Church in Abbeville, Alabama.
Seven white men, armed with knives and shotguns, ordered the young
woman into their green Chevrolet, raped her and left her for dead. The
president of the local NAACP branch office sent his best investigator
and organizer to Abbeville. Her name was Rosa Parks. In taking on this
case, Parks launched a movement that ultimately changed the world.
Do not miss Detroit native Danielle McGuire's account of the
lesser-known women whose courage led up to this era of change.

When Ezra was diagnosed with autism,
Tom Ficldi-Alcyer
physicians told his father to give himself time to
mourn the person Ezra would never become.
Instead, Tom Fields-Meyer decided to embrace the boy Ezra is.

Following Ezra is the tender story of an incredible child and a father
who learns that "everything is better when I'm following Ezra."

The Fear: Robert Mugabe and
the Martyrdom of Zimbabwe

After three decades of tyrannical rule,
Robert Mugabe, the 84-year old Robespierre
of Zimbabwe, lost an election. Instead of
conceding power, he launched a brutal
campaign of terror against his own people.

At great personal risk, Peter Godwin returned secretly to his native
country of Zimbabwe. Visiting torture bases, the burning villages,
the death squads, opposition leaders in hiding and men putting
their lives on the line to stop the carnage, The Fear is a brave and
astonishing record of a dictatorship gone mad.

what we dump into it and how we need to
redefine our approach to this invaluable natural
resource. Traveling around the world, he interviewed men and

dealing with water shortages, and he takes a look at how big business
is changing its approach to water usage.
