Clark Howard (MBA, Central Michigan)
is a nationally syndicated consumer
advocate who advises on how to save more, spend less and
avoid getting ripped off. His CNN weekly show is one of HLN's
highest rated programs and his radio show is heard every day
on more than 200 stations throughout North America.

"Save more and spend less" is more than just a motto for Clark;
it's a way of life. As a successful lifelong entrepreneur, media
star and best-selling author, the Atlanta-based "consumer
champion" is dedicated to helping Americans of all means get
ahead in life.

To be a Jew in the former Soviet Union was to
be afraid. The Soviets despised the Jews because

they refused to renounce religion, the "opiate of
the people"— unwelcome in a Leninist society.
At the same time, Soviet leaders would not allow Jewish citizens to
leave — and made their lives a nightmare.

The Murderer's Daughters

Alicia Oltuski
Precious Objects: A Story of Diamonds,
Family and a Way of Life

More than 90 percent of all diamonds sold in the
United States enter the country through a small
corridor known as the diamond district. Located
in the heart of New York City, it is only several
blocks long and maintains a very low profile.

In Precious Objects, journalist Alicia Oltuski
provides a fascinating look at one of the
country's most private business neighborhoods.
It begins with her own grandparents, immigrants from Siberia who
made their mark
in the diamond district, and introduces an incredible cast of
characters including the self-described diamond detectives and an
Elvis impersonator/dealer. Along the way, Oltuski entertains and
educates with insider information about the history, legends and
business of diamonds.

Karen Bergreen
Following Polly: A Novel

OPERATION

EXODUS

Follo wing P olly

Alice Teak-le has all the ingredients of a
.411
winner: a Harvard education, a rich Manhattan
upbringing, a best friend who's a lawyer and a good
sense of humor. Nevertheless, she's, well, a bit of a
loser. She decides to follow (some would say
"stalk") her hugely successful former dorm-mate,
Polly Dawson, to learn how to be a winner.
Unfortunately for both Polly and Alice, Polly ends up dead and Alice is
accused of the murder.

KARIN BCPCOCEN

In the tradition of many great Jewish storytellers, Karen Bergreen, a
Harvard-educated lawyer-turned-comedian-turned novelist, uses her
fierce intelligence and sharp wit to create an entertaining social satire
and mystery.

Meyers weaves a compelling story of two Jewish sisters left orphaned
after witnessing their father kill their mother. Lulu and Merry
Zachariah suffer at the hands of uncaring relatives, a tough-as-nails
orphanage and, finally, a foster family ill-equipped to nurture them.
Maturing and coping in dramatically differently ways, they must also
deal with their imprisoned father, who remains a specter in their lives.
