She was an avid bookworm, read- ing up to two novels a week plus the daily newspaper and at least six subscription magazines including Newsweek and New Yorker. She believed in helping others, thus her passion for volunteering. It started with being a candy striper at Sinai Hospital, then City of Hope where she worked her way to become president of her chapter, to helping out at the gift shop at Danto. In later years, when she could physically no longer volunteer, she contributed to numerous charities. She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Jerome Kornheiser; daughter, Gwen Silverstein; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Kornheiser and Vicki Simmons-Kornheiser; sister, Gladys "Gaby" Davis; grand- children, Karee and Michael Strome and Stacey and Fredric Lusky; great- grandchildren, Melissa and Jacob Strome, Jordyn and Taylor Lusky; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rhoda and Ralph Shapiro; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
