F rankel Jewish Academy staff, stu- dents and supporters gathered Sept. 27 for a brief and joyous ceremony celebrating the affixing of a new mezuzah to the school's new glass entrance near the main Jewish Community Center entry. Donated through a generous bequest from the Norman and Esther Allan Foundation, the zebrawood mezuzah, laser etched with words from the Shema, was affixed to the doorpost of the school's entrance by seniors Robbie Simons and Helene Glickman, respectively Fj/Vs student president and vice president. Rabbi Eric Grossman, headmaster of Frankel Jewish Academy, thanked the Foundation for its generosity and commented on how fitting this specific mezuzah was for the school. "The Shema is the first blessing parents teach their children when they are young, and it commands us to teach our children a love for God and the Torah," he said. "We are commanded to write its own words upon the doorposts of our homes. Every Jewish home and building welcomes visitors with these holy instructions." 1 Above: Senior Noga Barpal offers a reading.
