Loans are need-based, interest-free and available to Jewish residents of Metro Detroit. To qualify for a JELS loan, applicants must be full-time students pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or professional education; able to document financial need; attend an accredited college or uni- versity in Michigan (unless a comparable education is not available in Michigan); and demonstrate academic progress toward a career objective. JELS is funded through a partnership of more than 80 private funds and phil- anthropic service organizations. More than 100 students were assisted with JELS loans in the previous school year.
