tion parties, bachelor parties and bar
mitzvahs. Among the groups to have
already hosted outings at Gamerz
are JARC, the B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization and the Vortex Martial
Arts Summer Camp.
Lock-ins, or overnight video game
slumber parties, are also available at
Gamerz.
A visit to Gamerz costs $7 for one
hour, $10 for two hours, and $2.25 for
each additional 30 minutes after two
hours. A daily rate of $28 for unlim-
ited play is also available, as are mem-
berships for one, two or three months.
First-time visitors receive 30 minutes
of game time for free.
The most popular game at Gamerz
is currently Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Madden tournaments are a major
attraction during the football season.
Crudo acknowledges that there are
stereotypes associated with garners
and presents facts to refute them. If
your image of a gamer is an antisocial,
unmotivated, young male, think again.
"Statistics show the average age of
a gamer is 34 with 15 years of gaming
experience, and 42 percent are female
he says.
Crudo says gaming develops logic,
hand-eye coordination, thought pro-
cesses, reaction time and reflexes, as
well as a drive to continually top your
best efforts.
And, he says, gaming builds friend-
ships. "We have gamers of all ages and
cultures here, and they are united by
their love of gaming."
"Where garners connect" is the

Gamerz Lounge motto.
"I've always been impressed by the
friendships Greg has made through
gaming:' says Fernanda. "Garners
like other garners." It may be a father
and son building bonds, she says, or
people of different cultures becom-
ing friends. One couple in their 30s
spent an entire week at Gamerz on
what appeared to be a gaming vaca-
tion, having fun together from open
to close.
With school in session, Gamerz is
planning to launch an after-school
social club. Crudo notes that gaming
has surpassed movies as the largest
entertainment industry for children.
"We pay close attention to ESRB
(Entertainment Software Rating
Board) ratings of each game, and
before any exceptions are made, we
require written parental consent:' says
Fernanda.
Gamerz is also available for fund-
raising activities. Recently, it hosted
an event to support Maya's Fight Club
and the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation. Maya Sarotte, 8, was
diagnosed three years ago with juve-
nile diabetes. Maya's Fight Club raises
money to help find a cure.
Gamerz Lounge is open Mondays
through Thursdays from 2:30-8:30
p.m., Fridays from 2:30-11 p.m.,
Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m. and
Sundays from noon to 8:30 p.m.
