For his bar mitzvah project, he worked with the Howell Carnegie Public Library as a helper and aide during their summer pro- grams for kids. Sydney Brown Ira Brown Sydney Claire Brown and Ira Simon Brown, children of Eric and Tami Brown, will celebrate their b'nai mitzvah Saturday, Sept. 17, at Congregation B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield. Sharing in the simchah will be their brothers Sam and Max, and their grandparents Roland and Lea Beurer, and Bob and Beverly Brown. Sydney and Ira attend Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. They were involved in several mitzvah projects, but found their time volunteering at the Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield and with JARC to be most rewarding and meaningful. Erica Cantor will be called to the Torah as a bat mitz- vah on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Stephen Wise Synagogue in New York City. She is the daughter of Cantor Karen and Mark Cantor and the sis- ter of Lauren. Her father, Mark, is formerly of Bloomfield Hills. Her grandparents are Abraham and Marianne Hyman of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Bernard and Judy Levin Cantor. Erica is an eighth-grade stu- dent at the Horace Mann School in Riverdale, N.Y. Her mitzvah projects involved serving food at the home- less shelter at the synagogue. Max Jacob Efros, son of Lisa and Ted Efros, will lead the congregation at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Friday, Sept. 16, as he celebrates his Efros bar mitzvah. He is the brother of Molly, Josh and Gabe. Delighted grandparents are Barbara Dechter, Mitchell Dechter, and Sandy and Morrie Efros. Max attends Bloomfield Hills Middle School. He felt collecting thousands of books for Bookstock and working the event was a very meaningful mitzvah experience. Abigail Meredith Fine, daughter of Betsy and Bob Fine will be called to the Torah as a bat mitz- vah on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Congregation Beth Fine Shalom in Minneapolis. She will also participate in Friday eve- ning services. She is the the sister of Sydney and the granddaughter of Connie and Lawrence Clayman, and Fran and Harland Fine. Abbi is a student at F.A.I.R. (Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resources) School.
