Marx won an Oscar for her 1987 short documentary, Young at Heart. She is a writer, director and producer. "Sue Marx has a background of long service to the film industry in Michigan and is an inspiration to filmmakers in the state said Traverse City Film Festival president Michael Moore. "In an industry not exactly friendly toward women, where more than 90 percent of filmmakers in the Directors Guild of America are men, she is considered a pioneer in the film com- munity."
