There's still time for camp! ORT's Camp Hermelin will be held 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept.18, at the home of Doreen Hermelin in Bingham Farms. The event, which will benefit ORT, includes activities for families with children of all ages. Campers and families can reunite with friends, support a great cause and enjoy arts and crafts, sports, games, snacks, bouncers and air-brush tattoos. Everyone is invited. Lunch will be served camp-style throughout the day. The cost is $36 per person or $136 for one family. Children are encouraged to wear their favorite camp T-shirt or sweatshirt, and attendees must park at Temple Beth El, where buses will take them to and from the event. Parking is not allowed at the Hermelin home. In addition to the fun activities, the day will include a raffle for free or discounted tuition to many of the local camps. (Participants do not need to be present to win.) Camp Hermelin also will include an auction of family and kid-friendly prizes. "This is a great day to be reunited with your camp friends and camp staff and to get to learn a little bit about all of the participating camps while supporting a very worthy cause: ORT," says Michelle Blau, who has served on the Camp Hermelin planning committee for three years. "Dan and I are so thrilled that our family is involved with Camp Hermelin and with ORT," adds Jennifer Gilbert, Camp Hermelin co- chair. "The mission and the goals of ORT are values that everyone can get on board with; what better mission is there than to empower people to be self-sufficient?" For more information, call the ORT office at (248) 723-8860 or e-mail nmuchnick@ortamerica.org . Proceeds from the day will assist ORT, which since 1880 has empow- ered students around the world with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce. Today, ORT has a pres- ence in the United States, including Michigan, and 55 countries. It has helped more than 3 million people pursue careers and contribute to society.
