Defeat The Label
Teen musician Cody Simpson plays a free concert
to promote new anti-bullying campaign.
A
ustralian musician Cody Simpson rocked a packed crowd at Somerset
Collection in Troy Aug. 28 at a free concert that made clear his support for
Defeat the Label (DTL), a new anti-bullying campaign spearheaded by the
Friendship Circle of West Bloomfield.
Wearing a Defeat the Label hoodie sporting such labels as "dork,""nerd,""spoiled,"
"weird" and "odd" (sold at dtlshop.com , sponsor of the concert), Simpson made it
clear he is totally against stereotypical labeling by teens and others. His stance is
shared by other teen celebrities, such as Miley Cyrus.
The event, which also featured a fashion show, was hosted by former news anchor
Lila Lazarus, who is the DTL spokesperson.

than $1,000 for Yad Ezra.

n Aug. 22, Adin Kleinfeldt, 9, of
Huntington Woods held a home-based
fundraiser for Yad Ezra. Kleinfeldt's idea
to hold a Hula-Hoop-A-Thon raised more than
$1,000 for the Berkley-based kosher food pantry.
Participants had to commit to 30 or 60 minutes of
hula hooping and had to raise at least $20 in spon-
sor money.
Last year, he raised money for Yad Ezra by man-
ning a lemonade stand. Who knows what he'll do
next year. El
