JAY M. GERBER, 84, of Farmington
Hills, died Aug. 25, 2011.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Evelyn Gerber of Farmington Hills;
son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael
and Diane Gerber of Farmington
Hills; daughter and son-in-law, Rise
and Marcos Villanueva of Del Ray
Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Brooke
(Chaim) Leiberman, Erica Villanueva,
Benjamin (Betsy) Gerber, Jaime
Villanueva, Marissa Gerber; great-
grandchild, Naomi Ella Leiberman;
loving nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
Mr. Gerber was the brother of the
late Eileen (the late David) Silverman
and the late Harold Gerber.
Contributions may be made to
Friendship Circle or to a charity of
one's choice. Interment was held at
Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.

ELLINA HERSH, 37, of Huntington
Woods, died Aug. 25, 2011.
She was a registered nurse at
William Beaumont Hospital in Royal
Oak for 15 years.
She is survived by her parents,
Bella and Vyacheslav Markarenko
of West Bloomfield; children, Ari
Samuel Hersh, Shayna Leah Hersh and
Miryam Shoshanna Hersh; brother,
Marat Markarenko of Wixom. She is
also survived by her former husband,
Joel Hersh.

Services were held at the Davidson/
Hermelin Chapel at Clover Hill Park in
Birmingham. Interment was at Clover
Hill Park Cemetery. Arrangements by

PEARL KOZIK, 92, of Southfield, died
Aug. 28, 2011.
She was born and raised in Detroit
and was a loving mother and grand-
mother. She worked as a bookkeeper
for various organizations and was an
active member of Hadassah. She loved
to cook for her family and traveled
extensively throughout her life.
Mrs. Kozik is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Susan and
Jeffrey Klein of Huntington Woods;
grandchildren, Rachel and Joseph.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Szymon Kozik, whom she met and
married in Israel in 1956. She was also
the beloved niece of the late Josephine
and the late Louis Weinsweig.
Contributions may be made to
the Jewish National Fund. Interment
was at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
Arrangements by Hebrew Memorial
Chapel.

MORTON LEWIS,
81, of West
Bloomfield, died
Aug. 23, 2011.
He was a member
of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek,
B'nai Torah
Congregation of
Florida and B'nai B'rith.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife
of almost 40 years, Sally Lewis; chil-
dren, Nanice Chayet of Wellington,
Fla., Rochelle and Ric Robinette of
Brighton, Colo., David and Rosemary
Lewis of Ann Arbor, Shelly and Jeff
Weiss of Boynton Beach, Fla., Scott
Lewis of Bloomfield Hills, Michael
Chayet of West Bloomfield; grand-
children, Carin, Noah, Marla, Jaymie,
Blake, Devin, Rachel and Jason.

BARNETT
MELTZER, 70, of
San Diego, Calif.,
died Aug. 24, 2011.
He was an archi-
tect.

survived by his

Jon Lowy; son and daughter-in-law,
Seth Seligman Meltzer and Melissa
Meltzer; grandchildren, Harry
Benjamin Lowy, Katherine Mae
Lowy, Asher Seligman Meltzer and
Adam Seligman Meltzer; brother,
Ronald Meltzer of Texas; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Linda and Michael
Jacobs of Ohio, Marilyn Adler and
Larry Lindberg. He is also survived
by his former wife and mother of
his children, Sandra Seligman, and
her partner, Gilbert Glassberg; many
nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meltzer was the devoted son of
the late Martin Meltzer and the late
Jennie Daitch Meltzer.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
