Urban Kids Photography
and Bec & Sam's clothing
boutique are partnering to create
a fashion/photography fundraiser
to benefit Friendship Circle in West
Bloomfield.
During the campaign, which runs
now through Oct. 21, the first 40 par-
ticipants who make an appointment
for a free 20-minute photo session
will be given discount vouchers for a
10 percent discount at Bec & Sam's,
where they will buy an outfit for the
photo shoot.
The studio will select one image of
each child to be featured on a web-
site that allows parents, family and
friends to vote for the child to be fea-
tured in the Jewish News and to win
exclusive photography collections for
use in 2012.
"In these tough economic times,
we wanted to create a fun, uplifting
way for families to help other fami-
lies within the community," says Bec
& Sam's owner Julie Grippo."And
what's more fun than dressing up
and capturing our children's images
for a good cause?"
Online voting to choose the first-,
second- and third-place winners in
three age categories goes from Oct.
26-Nov. 2. Votes cost $1 each. Voting
is unlimited. The nine winning
images will be printed in the JN.
Proceeds from the votes go to the
Friendship Circle, which will receive
about 83 cents on the dollar. They
also will receive 10 percent of sales
from project-related purchases from
both businesses. Both businesses will
offer special purchase incentives that
allow participants to earn additional
"bonus" votes.
Photography sessions and view-
ing appointments will take place
on pre-set dates and times in early
September through mid-October.
Sessions are 20 minutes and include
one or two children. Private sessions
are available at an additional cost.
Slots will be filled on a first-come,
first-served basis by phone reserva-
