Lightening stuck a tree in front of the building that houses her studio on Friday, closing Northwestern Highway for a period and knocking out power. The show will go on this Sunday, Aug. 28, from 3-6 p.m. The artist works with psychiatrist Dr. Dorit Ben-Ami, who has a practice in Southfield. "The stu- Humorist Allan Gould To Speak At FJA, HMC Noted author and humorist Dr. Allan Gould will present two widely differ- ent talks on Sunday, Aug. 28. Gould, who was born and raised in Detroit, has a broad range of expertise, fre- quently lecturing on both the Jewish people's inspired talent for wit and the significance of the Holocaust through a literary perspective. Both talks are sponsored by the Jewish Forum. At 2 p.m., Gould will present a lec- ture entitled "Writing Jewish Humor Without Hurting Mother (Too Much)" at the Frankel Jewish Academy, 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield. The lecture is co-sponsored by Frankel Jewish Academy. Admission fee is $10. In the lecture, Gould demonstrates that it is possible to be funny without being self-hating. As a young man, Gould attended the trial in Jerusalem in 1961 and recently participated in a conference held at Yad Vashem, examining the Eichmann trial in historical perspective. In his lecture, he will offer a review of the fruits of that conference and reflections on the sig- nificance of the Eichmann trial and the events it illuminated.
